Abstract Impressions
"Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution."
- Ansel Adams
"Try to forget what objects you have before you - a tree, a house, a field, or whatever. Merely think, 'Here is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow,' and paint it."
- Claude Monet.
"My work is always better when I am alone and follow my own impressions."
- Claude Monet.
This element of my fine art photography is increasingly becoming my main focus, originally inspired by my wish to produce something impressionistic in the style of Monet or Turner for example.
These images are predominantly from the natural world although in some cases elements of the light may have caught my eye and transformed what is a man-made scene, view or architecture into something special.
Sometimes I may compose the image in camera and that may be all that is needed, but I can also change the image during post processing, which is very strange for a photographer who has always photographed the scene in a realistic style with little or no post processing in Photoshop. However, it becomes a fascinating new venture and one which is already proving popular with clients and interior designers who have selected these images as fine art canvas prints.
