It is not surprising that having photographed my home county of Dorset for more than fifty years that I should have a somewhat biased opinion of Dorset as a photographer’s county.
I prefer my images to stand the test of time; the culmination of that special moment when light, sea and land combine to produce a scene of unique quality.
I am particularly fond of rivers as they make their journey through the landscape and providing intriguing tales along the way. Dorset is also the home of renowned writer Thomas Hardy and of course dialect poet William Barnes who have both derived much pleasure and influence from the county’s atmospheric landscape.
In this selection I have also included a few images taken of Dorset gardens during my visit around many of them for my book 'Gardens of Dorset'
I look forward to further travels in my home county, capturing its magnificent coast and country in a way which I always consider to be the very spirit of a place.
